Man Pleads Guilty to Killing 4-Year Old That He Thought was Gay
A man in North Carolina has pleaded guilty to killing a 28-year old woman and 4-year old boy that he thought was gay. Peter Lucas Moses has been arrested for the murders of Jadon Higganbothan and Antoinetta Yvonne McKoy. Moses was the leader of a religious sect that consisted of women who called him “Lord.”
Moses lived with three of the women and counted them as his “wives.” He had nine children and a one bedroom home in Durham, North Carolina. He is the biological father of all of the children except for the one he allegedly killed.
Moses’ sect identifies themselves as The Black Hebrews. The members believed that they were direct descendants of the ancient tribes of Israel. They were also preparing for a race war that would leave black people as the supreme beings at its end.
Former District Attorney Tracey Cline says that Moses shot Jadon because he thought the boy was gay.
“In the religious belief of that organization, homosexuality was frowned on,” she said.
Both of the victims were shot in the head, according to the autopsy. The bodies were found in plastic bags in the backyard of Moses’ mother, Sheilda Harris.
The guilty plea means that Moses will face two consecutive life sentences without the chance for parole instead of receiving the death penalty.
“He pleaded guilty to two counts of first degree murder and agreed to testify against his co-defendants if he is called upon to testify,” District Attorney Leon Stanback is quoted as saying.
